The Haiti Experience

Let CCH bring Haiti to you. Experience a visit to our Primary Care Clinic, a partner school classroom, a Haitian home and a trip through Haitian history. Meet our staff and partners and hear their stories. Walk away with a new perspective on mission.

Thank you all so much for bringing the wonderful Haiti Experience to Tabernacle. Everything about the weekend was amazing, informative and enjoyable. You are all fantastic! Our mission team here is working hard to expand interest in and knowledge of missions doing God’s work in the world. We are grateful that CCH helped with that goal. We are proud to be a CCH partner!

FAQs

What is “The Haiti Experience”? CCH has created a theater set type of structure (16×20 feet) that can be assembled onsite to allow participants to walk through a sample Haitian home, primary school classroom, and primary care clinic. We also have an 8×8 foot Haitian history timeline, and multiple pop up banners depicting our Haitian staff and students and telling a little about their lives in their own words. We can bring all of these immersive exhibits to your church or civic organization and offer a tailor-made interactive experience that brings Haiti and our work at CCH to life for participants.

Who is this event for? If your church or organization already works with CCH, we want to show your members what their support is doing in Haiti. If you don’t already work with CCH, we can introduce our mission and programs to your folks. We can tailor our event(s) to any ages. We have experience leading activities for families, adults, youth, and children.

How long does the event last? We’ve found it’s best to anchor this around a meal and spend 1.5-2 hours together. We can tailor the event to your needs and audience. We’ve done church luncheons, afternoon snacks, and entire weekend events with VBS lessons.

Will you travel outside of Northern Virginia? Connect with us and let’s discuss! Contact Abby Gwaltney (abby@cchaiti.org).

Is this a fundraising event? No, CCH is not asking for money at these events. Rather, we are showcasing what we do in Haiti and making it tangible for folks who can’t travel to Haiti and see it first-hand. Our priority is engagement and connection. We want to bring Haiti to you!

How can I get CCH to come to my church/club/organization? Contact Abby Gwaltney (abby@cchaiti.org) for an initial conversation about what you want and staff availability. We are now booking for 2024 events!

How can guests prepare for the experience? No preparation is needed. However, CCH has materials and news articles to share if folks are interested in learning about Haiti beforehand.

What happens after The Haiti Experience? We lead participants through discussions that help tease out group values about mission work. Often, ideas come out of these discussions that churches can act on immediately. We want to make mission real, and help you feel connected to the work you want to do in the world.

What People Are Saying

“I am so pleased with how the Haiti Experience at our church turned out! The CCH team was excellent in the planning, execution, and follow-up, leading us all the way through and providing a fun, challenging, and engaging program. We had more people come than our usual worship attendance, and at least half of them came from the community outside our church family. Everyone was moved and thinking in new ways about the situation in Haiti and what can be done with and for the people there. Thanks, CCH! It was better than we ever imagined.”

– Rev. David Douthett, Pastor of Catoctin Presbyterian Church, Waterford, VA

“Thank you so much for bringing Haiti to Waterford. Many people were shocked and saddened by the daily difficulties that Haitians face. The set was amazing – you made life in Haiti come alive with the banners and breakout discussions. We advertised this program to our community and were thrilled to see not only people from our church but also many visitors. It was great to see so many faces!”

– Connie Moore, Missions Chair of Catoctin Presbyterian Church, Waterford, VA
