After months—and months!—of planning and preparation, CCH was able to send a large shipment of clinic and program supplies to our Program Center in Jacmel!
As we have reported, it has been increasingly difficult to ship anything to Haiti with any guarantee that it will reach Jacmel. But our relationship with Buddy and Mary Puryear of Sea Hope changed that, and we are so grateful! Thank you, Buddy and Mary (and crew)!
We are also tremendously grateful to our many partners who donated equipment and who made this shipment possible! MST & Associates in Virginia donated a dozen pallets of equipment for our physical/occupational therapy rehab clinic. Included in their donation was 3 exercise bikes, 4 treadmills, 2 hand bikes, 2 sets of mini-stairs, 4 office chairs, 2 treatment tables, and a rack full of dumbbells. MST also kindly and generously palletized and wrapped everything, as well as loaded the truck upon arrival and secured everything inside. Thank you!
Two clinicians from the Elmira, New York, area (where Vince lives) donated rehab supplies, including boxes of thera bands and thera tubing and hard foam rollers. They also introduced Vince and CCH to some of their suppliers, which led to a generous in-kind donation from the wonderful folks at HawkGrips. Thank you, Jim and Chris and everyone at HawkGrips!
Other partners, like Haiti Health Network (HHN), were also able to utilize CCH’s shipment to get primary care supplies delivered for CCH and other healthcare providers in Southeastern Haiti (or Sud Est department). HHN sent us two pallets of medical gloves and several other items for our primary care clinic and to share with other local healthcare providers. Thank you, Barbara and Rachel (and your team)!
And special thanks, also, to CCH co-founding organization and supportive partner Vienna Presbyterian Church for helping to fund this shipment! Also included in this shipment are a few dozen baby blankets handmade by the VPC Piece Makers group. These will be handed out to expecting and new moms who visit our vaccination program.
The Sea Hope arrived at the Jacmel port on Wednesday, July 23, and CCH staff and a few local friends helped load the trucks for several short trips to CCH. Our rehab clinic staff was thrilled at the long-awaited arrival of these things, as they are truly transformational—with no exaggeration—to the clinic and to all current and future patients. Thousands more patient visits will occur over the rest of this year alone. And each year, we will certainly help hundreds more people in need of quality, compassionate care.
Shipping to Haiti continues to be one of our most difficult challenges. Getting things into and out of Port au Prince is dangerous and nearly impossible. We are so grateful that God, through so many CCH partners and friends, made a way to get what we needed delivered to Jacmel!
Our clinic staff, children at partner schools, and communities we serve will all benefit from this infusion of supplies and equipment!
