The Community Coalition for Haiti (CCH) in co-operation with a group of highly educated Haitian Americans, have determined that a new approach to economic development is needed and have developed a new business model for Haiti. From this parternship, Bel Soley, Inc. was formed: a Haitian American owned and operated for-profit venture. Bel Soley's mdoel is to set up small for-profit businesses in decentralized areas that team with both local Haitian non-profits and international non-profits that support the local community. This hybrid model allows the non-profits to do what they do best – providing education, training, micro-credit loans, etc. – while the “for profit” business buys, processes and distributes the produce or goods.
Bel Soley, Inc. is an American based distribution company for Haitian products, with its Haitian subsidiary, Bel Soley d’Ayiti, the domestic operating company. The companies are a true Haitian-American combination, with management that is American, Haitian, and Haitian-American and business policies, approaches and concepts that reach international standards of quality and reliability while working successfully within the unique requirements of Haitian business and social life. The company is backed by a solid management and financial foundation in the US (top executives as investors and advisors) and blue chip legal and financial assistance. The ‘hands-on’ Haitian operation is managed by experienced Haitian-Americans who know BOTH cultures intimately – the Diaspora returning to help.
