Clean Water and Sanitation - Transforming lives one drop at a time.
In Haiti, lack of clean, safe drinking water is the second leading cause of death for local children, just behind starvation. For this reason, CCH, Haiti Outreach, IIT, and the Pignon Rotary and International Rotary are working on repairing the Pignon Water System to serve 35,000 residents. This not only includes implementing a technically sound and appropriate system but implementing the Haitian management system to sustain the system overtime.
The system design includes five capped springs, RAM pumps, solar pumps, large water storage tanks, and a primary and secondary loop to serve private homes which funds water at public kiosks.
CCH also provides clean water to communities through drilling of new wells or the repair of existing wells. One well can provide clean water for 500-1,000 people in a sustainable way where the community saves funds to maintain the well or achieve additional community goals "well" into the future. A new well costs just $3,500, and $1,500 will repair a well to provide a whole community or part of a community with clean water. Please give towards the gift of clean water to earthquake-damaged and cholera-ridden areas of the southeast by supporting CCH.
